Why we are doing this website...

Hello, We are Katie Needham, Michelle Whittaker, Lucy Kaye and Penny Green. Please join us and support our reasons to raise awareness for our friend Michelle Wheatley. We have grown up with Chelle and are all very good friends, we go back years (as chelle would say..)

On August 31st 2008 Chelle had a stroke, she had been suffering migraines for numerous weeks before this happened, Michelle is still in Stepping Hill hospital on the stroke ward and is slowly but very very surely is making an improvement, which of course is what we want to hear!

When Michelle got to hospital after her stroke at home, The hospital put Chelle into a coma, at that point Linda (Michelle's mother) and Rick (Michelle's Partner) were told that there was a possibility she may not come out of the coma, Despite what the doctors and specialists said Michelle pulled through the coma but when she came round she was diagnosed with ‘locked in syndrome’ This basically means that her mind and memory are functioning at 100% but her body isn’t functioning at all, Michelle cannot move, she is completely paralysed and she cannot talk at all. A condition that Wikipedia describes as “the closest thing to being buried alive”.

Now the hope of her friends and family are to get Michelle home asap and on Chelles return home we want to make it as easy as possible for her family, that’s where we come in to raise as much funds as possible.
